500 $aIn 1878 a copy of the original pamphlet, then in the possesion of B.F. Turner, president of Eminence College, Ky., was loaned to Z.F. Smith, who published a transcript of it, with notes, in the Apostolic Times of April 12, 1878, and in the Louisville Courier-Journal, April--, 1878. The "Recantation" was freely copied by many other papers and variously commented upon. The present editor accepts it as genuine, but cf. J.W.
