The Lower Duwamish Waterway, located in Seattle, Washington, was added to the National Priorities List (Superfund) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2001. Contaminants of concern found in waterway sediments include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), mercury and other metals, and phthalates.
