Probably the best A level text book written for the linear syllabus before it became revised into modular format. The book has a rigorous approach to theory, frequent use of contemporary material to illustrate points and an outstanding workbook incorporated into the book at the end of each chapter.
The book was extensively used on Scottish first year university courses and for introductory courses for non-specialists in English universities.
