A small group of historically-minded pupils received from their teacher-sponsor, Mr. K. A. Waites, a suggestion, inspired by Dr. W. N. Sage, of the University of British Columbia, that their active interest in the romance of Vancouver justified the recording of their findings. A school club sprang into being, and for two years it has delved assiduously into our past.

This little booklet is the result of their efforts to present to others what has proved so fascinating to them. Their enthusiasm has won for them the very generous co-operation of Major J. S. Matthews, Vancouver's Archivist. The staff of the Provincial Archives and a number of our most eminent authorities on such matters gave freely of their knowledge and criticism. Such consideration is gratefully acknowledged.

H. B. FITCH, Principal.
