Edition Notes

The publisher's preface to the 1739 issue states that in 1738, in anticipation of his death, Leeds calculated almanacs "for seven years to come," i.e. 1739-1745. The statement is repeated in the present issue, signed W.B. and A.B. (William and Andrew Bradford)

The preface is followed by a supposed satiric letter from Leeds' spirit to Benjamin Franklin, the publisher of Poor Richard.

At head of title: Leeds coat of arms with scroll reading: The genuine Leeds almanack.

Advertised in the American weekly Mercury, Philadelphia, Oct. 25/Nov. 1, 1739.

Signatures: [A]⁴ B-C⁴.

The Anatomy is the only illustration in the text.
