From its beginnings in 1854 when Kansas became a Territory, Mary P. Clarke, describes the growth of this church through 1915. Mary was a member of the church and the community. She was a Lawrence High school graduate, B.A. University of Kansas 1903, and M.A. University of Kansas 1905. She completed her Ph.D. at Yale University in 1932. Her book presents all of the pastors of this church and gives highlights from their pastorates. Early chapters are great insights into the growth of Kansas from Territory to Statehood.
