This book deals with the history of calypso music in Costa Rica. In 1872 thousands of migrants from the Caribbean Islands reach Costa Rica to work building a railroad and after to grow bananas for the United Fruit Company. Along with them comes calypso music which evolutes with time and contextual elements to eventually generate the Limonese Calypso, an identity icon of the Afro Caribbean population of Costa Rica..
