Work Description
Story of Osceola told in first person. Traces his family's linkage to the Creek Red Stick movement
and Tecumseh to the escape to the Pea (Peace River) area of south Florida. Insight into Osceola's
early years, his actions at Fort King, and later leadership in the Second Seminole War. Offers insight
as to the motivation of Osceola, who while not a Chief of the Seminoles, became a great war leader
and was captured under a white flag of truce by Gen. Hernandez and some 200 army soldiers.
Described as historic fiction strongly based on fact and original documents. Includes the story
of Col. Sherburne and the possibility of a new image of Osceola's wife and son as described in
a London Newspaper of 1848.
