Work Description
The life cycle story of the loggerhead sea turtle is told with poetic language and full color illustrations. Readers follow the female's struggle as she digs a nest, lays her eggs, then leaves them behind when she returns to the sea. Hidden under the sand, the eggs develop until eventually the newly hatched turtles escape from the nest to seek the safety of the ocean waves. An afterword gives more details about the natural history of sea turtles, threats to their survival, and ways that people can help them.
