Elihu Thomson, beloved scientist, 1853-1937

inventive genius, engineer, educator, pioneer of the electrical age.

Elihu Thomson did more for the electical field than any other individual. He started with DC lighting and generators. Then invented meters, arc welding equipment, ac equipment. He was responsible for over 600 patents. He encouraged the metric units for electrical terms. He was the technical force behind the Thomson -- Houston Company of Lynn, Mass. In 1892, Charles Coffin, business manager, of Thomson-Houston Co. was called to meet with J.P. Morgan to sell his company to the Edison General Electric Co. Coffin refused to sell, but arranged for the merger of the two companies to form the "General Electric Company" with Charles Coffin as the President and head quarters at Schenectady, New York.

This book is a well written biography and should be commited to a PDF format.
