Attributed to Lyman in Sabin, no. 42802, and in the Dictionary of American Biography.

Written as a defense of Harrison Gray Otis' participation in the Hartford convention. In 1823 Otis was the unsuccessful Federalist candidate for governor of Massachusetts.
