The first half of the book covers reasons why Walt Disney loved railroading followed by the history and people of the railroad and Fort Wilderness. The second half covers the track plans and the engineering behind the railroad.

This is the story of the creation, operation, and engineering of this unique railroad that ran from 1973 to 1980 in the Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort. Introductions to four of the Walt Disney World railroads follow with bird's eye view posters. The supplement to this volume is the "Fort Wilderness Railroad Gallery Companion".
