The book describes and analyses the migration of 1000 settlers from Germany to Palestine during the Nazi period. From academic and upper middle class background they tried to change their professional lives into farmers according to the agronomic plan of Dr. Soskin which eventually failed; subsequently they were forced to look for new income streams in handycrafts, manufacturing and tourism. Many problems and conflicts had to be challenged.
