ENGLISH VERSION
Published in Spanish, introduced and annotated by Andrew K. Steen

These thirteen old articles about horse breeding and the Arabian horse of Spain in particular, are primordial to understand the origins and history of the Yeguada Military and the Spanish Cria Caballar (military horse breeding service). They articulate the fundamental role that the Arabian horse played in the improvement of all Spanish light-horse breeds, including: the Hispano-Arab, Anglo-Arab and the Hispano-Anglo-Arab, as well as the various casts of cross-bred horses. Within the book's 256 pages are over 80 extremely rare, old black & white photographs of (mostly) early Arabian horses in addition to eleven full-color plates.

The corpus of the text contains the following 13 articles:
About Arabian and Barb Horses, published in1831, by Francisco Laiglesia,
Royal Decree of March 27, 1847, by Manuel de Seijas Lozano,
Royal Decree of November 6, 1864, by General Ramón Maria Narváraz,
Letter from Constantinople in the year 1882, by an anonymous author
Horses of the Royal Household and the History of the Royal Breeding Farm at Aranjuez 1851, by an anonymous author
All the Queen's Horses - Nicolás Gliocho's Commission to Arabia 1847-1850, by Andrew K. Steen,
Why the Yeguada Military was Founded, 1902, by A. Miguel y P.M. Baselga,
The Problem with Horse Breeding In Spain, 1904, (the complete unpublished manuscript), by Capitan Luis Azpeitia de Moros,
Thesis on Horse Breeding, Mules and Asses -1906, by Pedro Moyano y Moyano,
Magazine of the Calvary-The Cria Caballar's Purchasing Commission to Russia of 1912, by Commandant Juan Sáez de Haro
The Need for Horse Races-1925, by an unidentified aficionado
The Purchasing Commission to the Orient-1927, by Commandant Javier Naneti,
The Breeding Farm of the ex-Duke of Veragua-1934, by Juan Rof y Codina.
This is my fifth book, (written in Spanish) which contains 13 old articles on horse breeding in Spain dating from 1831 to 1934 and includes over 80 very rare old photographs in B&W and 11 full-color plates.
