Young Davey has a way with the wind. Due to a mishap on the playground, he finds he can fly, and learns to trust where the wind takes him. It guides him to a higher place, above the hustle and bustle of the city, where an orchard and it's caretakers escaped the bulldozers.

Excerpts

Years ago, when he was in Miss Appollonia Boodle’s kinderclass at the Iverson Peale Elementary School, young Davey Winger had a revelation. That is to say, there was a bit of a mishap, an accident if you will, during which it was revealed to Davey that falling from a great height might not necessarily be a dreadful thing, and that in fact, falling was only floating too hastily.
