“The Oriental Astronomer” is a collection of works, in Tamil, with an English translation and numerous explanatory and corrective notes, prepared for the use of the students in Batticota Seminary in Jaffna, by the Rev. H. R. Hoisington, an american missionary in Ceylon.
The “Parahitam” (also Parahita or Parakitham), the original work in Sanskrit, the author of which has not been traced, is said to have been translated into Tamil by Ullamudeian (or Ullamudaiyan), from which the English translation was made by H. R. Hoisington.
