Der Luzerner Weltausstellung für Photographie gebe ich meine besten Wünsche mit. Die Photographie ist ein unentbehrliches Instrument der Wissenschaft, der Technik, der Werbung, der Presse und aller möglichen Arbeitsgebiete geworden. Sie dient aber such der Verschönerung des Lebens, dem frohen Erfassen und Genießen der Herrlichkeiten der Landschaft und der Kunst, und dem intimeren Lebenskreis der Familie und der Freundschaft. Die Ausstellung von Luzern ist dazu berufen, diese hohe wirtschaftliche, wissenschaftliche und kulturelle Bedeutung des Lichtbildes zu offenbaren und seine starke technische und künstlerische Entwicklung ins Bewußtsein zu rufen. Ich wünsche der Veranstaltung besten Erfolg.

La photographie est devenue un instrument indispensable de la science et de la technique, de la publicité et de la presse et de bien d'autres activités encore. En outre, elle contribue à l'embellissement de la vie, elle aide à la saine intelligence et à jouir des merveilles de la nature et de l'art et seconde le cercle intime de la vie familiale et de l'amitié. L'exposition de Lucerne est appelée à souligner l'importance du rôle économique, scientifique et culturel de la photographie et à attirer l'attention sur l'importance de son développement technique et artistique. Je souhaite le plus complet succès à cette manifestation.
My best wishes go to the World Exhibition of Photography at Lucerne. Photography has become an indispensable instrument to science, technics, propaganda, press and almost every sort of work. At the same time it helps to embellish life, aids to happy understanding and enjoyment of the beauties of landscape and art, as well as the more intimate sphere of family life and friendship. The Lucerne Exhibition is verily qualified to demonstrate the high commercial, scientific and cultural importance of the photographic picture and to accentuate its specific technical and artistic development.
