Hamlet of Ta Ta Creek
A few kilometres north of here is where Jim Parkin established a sawmill as early as 1923. Reed Lakes is now the official name of what was once "Parkin's Slough". Brothers Dave and John (his sister Mrs. Mary White cooked) worked here as well, and Bob and Amie Parkin came out from Saskatchewan in the winter, along with their family. Remnants of the old camp were discovered by this author in 2006, including the metal smokestack for the boiler.
