The asphalt ribbon of Afghanistan

rebuilding the Kabul-to-Kandahar highway

1st ed.

In September 2002, a civil engineering firm, The Louis Berger Group, won a contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to rebuild and repair many of Afghanistan's roads. Highway One emerged as the country's signature rebuilding project. This publication tells how The Louis Berger Group led the effort to rebuild and pave this highway in one of the poorest and most violent countries on the planet.
