Correspondence, memoranda, diary, speeches, reports, transcripts of radio broadcasts, biographical material, newspaper clippings, photographs, map, and other papers relating to Papánek's years in the U.S. as representative of the Czechoslovak government in exile during World War II and to his service in the United Nations (1945-1948). Includes material pertaining to the democratic movement and government of Czechoslovakia and to communist activities and takeover of Czechoslovakia. Includes papers of Edvard Beneš, Jan Masaryk, T. G. Masaryk, and Gregory Ignatius Zatkovich. Correspondents include Vladimír Clementis, Ladislav Feierabend, Rudolf Firkušný, J. L. Hromádka, Otakar Odložilík, Hubert Ripka, Carlo Sforza, and Emanuel Victor Voska.

Papers of Edvard Beneš (1938-1945) consist of correspondence, telegrams, speeches, reports, and propaganda. Correspondents include Franklin D. Roosevelt and other world leaders. Papers of Jan Masaryk (1941-1948) include correspondence, reports, and notes. Includes notes on his 1944 meeting with Roosevelt and correspondence with Dorothy Thompson. Papers of T. G. Masaryk (1917-1962) consist of correspondence with Edvard Beneš and printed material concerning Masaryk. Includes report written by Gregory Ignatius Zatkovich and addressed to Beneš concerning the wartime activities of Carpatho-Ukrainians.
