Recounts the eventful history of the Eugene-Kulenkamp-Stiftung. Founded in 1897 in Bremen, the Stiftung is the oldest institution of the bourgeois social housing sector in Germany, its purpose being to overcome the shortage of healthy, inexpensive apartments. In 1970 the Stiftung joined with the Verein für kleine Miethwohnungen, founded in 1849. The book documents the many activities and projects of both organizations through the tumultuous political, social and economic upheavals of the 19th and 20th centuries. Numerous photographs, floor plans and contemporary documents complement this diverse, profound and clear history.--Cf. Vortwort, p. 7; Einleitung, p. 9.
