In a manuscript note on the fly-leaf of the Barlow-Church-Huntington copy, Henri Harrisse states that the "plaquette" (at that time the only know copy) was found by him in a volume with other pamphlets relating to Canada printed 1754-1760 at Grenoble, by Cuchet, with the same type. A reprint (20 copies) with a made-up t.-p. was made from the Barlow copy 1882 for John Gilmary Shea.
The authorship is attributed to Montcalm. cf. Sabin, Bibl. amer., v. 16, no. 69270; Church cat., vol. v, p. 2046, no. 1013.
