Cover title.
Signed: Laura Davidson, 2001.
A wooden diptych which opens to reveal a map of the world. The upper panel has two columns, two pilasters, and a pediment that includes a movable globe, with the title painted on a panel in the center. It is modeled after the title page of Abraham Ortelius's atlas, Theatrum orbis terrarum, Antwerp, 1570. The hand-painted interior is a map of the world surrounded by plants, insects, animals, and man-made structures.
