A collection of 112 Urdu newspaper columns published during 1986-1998 in Urdu dailies of Karachi, Pakistan. The columnist Dr. Taahir Masood is a senior journalist and a professor of Mass Communications at the University of Karachi. These popular columns cover a variety of subjects ranging from social, socio-political, historical, linguistic, cultural and literary issues and developments to the changing trends of mass communications and their impact on the minds of the young generation. They also lament and address the decay in moral values and even the lack of civic sense particularly in contemporary society. The book starts with a prefatory essay "Kaulam aur kaulam-nigaar" [column(s) and columnist] by Professor Mateen-ur-Rehman Murtaza, a senior professor of Journalism who had taught the writer at Karachi University. The style of these columns is literary yet very down-to-earth to convey the message to the man-on-the-street. It remains interesting like a short story and thus serves as an effective communication tool for the common reader and intellectuals alike.
