This book is the first publication to be devoted to the life and work of painter Jan Václav Spitzer (1711–1773), whose art can be encountered all over the Czech Republic. Although Spitzer is not considered among the leading artists of the period, the impressive body of his work and his distinctive approach earn him welldeserved place in the history of Czech visual art.
