The room is filled with the sound of the vinyl and the mirrors. Dim light comes from a clip-on lamp hung under the cupboards. A bottle of depanneur wine, transparent except for a cupful at the bottom, stands alone on the counter. Nailed together, two-by-fours rest atop milk crates, and are surrounded by more as seats. Buzzing fridge, empty pizza boxes, quart bottles, and lone plate on a dish rack (from a small store, non-departmentalized) provide requisite elegance! A small white plastic bucket, perpetually full, is crowned by an empty poutine plate and the pizza crust which survived the morning. The bare, wooden, balcony door stands with four panes of neighbors and other ghosts sleeping behind reflections of employed pagans seeking catharsis.
