Tells of Irish cultural and political renaissance 19th-20th centuries from Griffith's life. As an editor he introduced the young James Joyce to the Irish public for the first time. They had a mutual admiration relationship for 20 years and Griffith features throughout Ulysses. Griffith had a turbulent relationship with WB Yeats. He wrote the seminal pamphlet " The Resurrection of Hungary" in 1904. Griffith founded Sinn Fein in 1905. When the Easter Rising occurred in 1916 Griffith was arrested and interned for two of the last five years of his life. He became President of Dail Eireann in 1922 after Anglo-Irish Treaty. He died prematurely in 1922.
