While at Mrs. Maria W. Chapman's house, Deborah Weston learned that "Mr. Smith of Bowdoin College" had made a long call and that "they talked metaphysicks [sic] & admired one another." Tilson [Joseph Tilson?] is keeping "the office [of the Mass. Anti-Slavery Society] & very grand he is." Deborah attended the monthly concert [a concert of prayer for the slaves] with Lucinda Otis and Ann Greene Chapman. Brother [William S.?] Porter prayed that the slaves in the South might not be tempted to rise and join the Indians. Porter stated that the Presbyterian synod at Pittsburgh had chosen a slaveholder as president. Deborah fears that the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society will not be able to find a church in which to hold their meeting.
