Holograph, signed with initials.
Deborah Weston is glad that Lucia Weston is in Boston for she can do Lizzy [Elizabeth Bates Chapman Laugel] great good. She insists on long letters with news from Lucia and Mrs. Maria W. Chapman, and wants to hear all about Mrs. Maria W. Chapman's Taunton visit. Deborah asks whether Maria is going to the annual anti-slavery meeting in New York. If so, will Lucia tell Henry G. Chapman that it is a duty he owes the cause "to insist upon her having those teeth set." Deborah said: "I hate to have Harriet Martineau proved a liar." [See the book by Harriet Martineau, Autobiography: With Memorials by Maria Weston Chapman, 1877.] In Deborah's absence, Lucia must do all she can to have Maria look her best "among that vile Ex[cutive] Committee.
