Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Jane Elizabeth Hitchcock has written an article for the Liberty Bell on the other half of this sheet. Hitchcock said: "Our cause is making rapid progress in this state." One half of the Executive Committee of the Ohio [Anti-Slavery] Society have resigned and "now occupy the true Disunion ground." A letter from Abby Kelley [Foster] contains 67 new subscribers and nearly $200 in pledges obtained in the lower part of the state. Abby Kelley and Stephen Symonds Foster have now gone to the meeting of the Indiana State Anti-Slavery Society. Benjamin S. Jones and Jane E. Hitchcock hold meetings every week in the surrounding country and attend to the Anti-Slavery Bugle between times. She thinks it would be highly inexpedient to leave the state this winter.

The article by Jane Elizabeth Hitchcock mentioned in this letter was entitled "All Are Needed," Liberty Bell, 1846. The article is attached to this letter.
