Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Richard Davis Webb has learned from a letter by Parker Pillsbury that Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman may visit Bristol. He did not wish to disturb Mrs. Chapman while she was with Miss Martineau. He would like to know how Lucia and the other "Italian Westons" are. He was pleased with the handsome wedding present that Thomas Sturge made to Madame Laugel (Elizabeth B. Chapman). Richard D. Webb has enjoyed knowing Parker Pillsbury, but the influence of people of the Anna Richardson clan "have greatly narrowed up his way. The adherents of Douglass too are doing as much mischief as they can." Richard D. Webb hopes Maria W. Chapman approves of Richard D. Webb's compliments to Victor Schoelcher in the last Anti-Slavery Advocate.
