Edition Notes
Holograph, signed.
Maria Weston Chapman begins the letter with family news. She mentions the death of Mary Ann Davenport. She tells what the abolitionists are doing: Wendell Phillips went into Middlesex County, Henry B. Stanton wants E. Wright to edit his paper, Amos A. Phelps is very ill, Daniel Wise lectured in Dorchester, and Orange Scott attacked William Lloyd Garrison's non-resistance principles. Chapman thinks that Oliver Johnson should try to get subscriptions for the Liberator newspaper.
This letter is written on the verso of a unsigned abolitionist petition to the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States.
