Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Anne Knight acknowledges Maria Weston Chapman's kindness in sending "so large a bounty to Paris." She praises the Christian action of American women and reflects that those women who "have withdrawn from the ranks of justice I fear that they" have been lacking in religious faith. Anne Knight's sister Maria and her husband John Candler are going to Jamaica to see how "we as friends can best help the cause" of the slave in the West Indies. Anne Knight requests that Mrs. Maria W. Chapman send information about American affairs.
