Edition Notes
Holograph, signed with initials.
William Lloyd Garrison begins this letter: "I had not read the 58th No. of Henry Wilson's Anti-Slavery History (?) in The Independent, when your letter in reference to it was received." He claims that Wilson didn't understand the distinction between "genuine and sectarian abolitionism." He reviews the history of the rivalry between the American Anti-Slavery Society and the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society.
Includes an envelope with the delivery address: Rev. Samuel May, Leicester, Mass.
