Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Richard Robert Madden presumably wrote this letter to Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman. Madden wishes that Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Lydia Maria Child, and Mrs. Sigourney would come to England to inspire English women "with a higher sense of their duties to humanity." He suggests that an American lady like Mrs. Chapman deliver a course of lectures.
