Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Mrs. Mary Welsh requests Maria Weston Chapman to send anti-slavery books that will be used in lending out and to help the people here to understand the anti-slavery cause. Mary Welsh regrets that William Lloyd Garrison paid such a high duty on his tea service. Mary Welsh writes: "We have a little controversy just now with Maria Webb of Belfast," over the collection of contributions for both the American Anti-Slavery Society and the Liberty party.
