Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Harriet Lupton hopes that Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman will visit on her way northward. Lupton was interested in "the testimonies of destinguished Frenchmen" in the Liberty Bell. She was delighted in the "Selections" from the writings of William Lloyd Garrison. Lupton was disappointed in Mrs. E. O. (Elizabeth Oakes) Smith's work on woman's rights. [Mrs. Elizabeth Oakes Smith's "Woman and Her Needs" was published in 1851.]
