Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

William Henry Ashurst complains that he has not received the pamphlets that William Lloyd Garrison promised to leave for him. He heard that Garrison was going to write an article on the "woman question." Ashurst can get the article published in the Morning Chronicle & Sun if Garrison sends it to him. Ashurst asks: "What was the points of information you wanted, when you asked me what Law Book would give you information as to the oppressive laws by which the poor are bound down & made serfs in England?" Ashurst asks if the Liberator delves into general politics or is it merely an anti-slavery journal?
