Edition Notes
Holograph, signed "Your loving Father."
William Lloyd Garrison thanks Wendell Phillips Garrison for his letter of condolence on the death of Mrs. Helen Eliza Garrison. He knows that his children will try to fill the gap in his life. He is slowly recovering his own health. William L. Garrison says: "I seem to be laboring under a powerful attack of old fashioned influenza." He received a legacy of £200 from Mrs. Janet Hamilton of Glasgow, Scotland, which will cover the funeral expenses. He rejects the suggestion that he leave the Billings portrait of himself to the Newburyport Library. Harold Villard started a little fire in the house, which was soon put out. He is glad to hear of Mrs. Wendell Phillips Garrison's improved health.
