Results of statistical analyses of the data from the field test of a newly developed Portable Wear Metal Analyzer (PWMA) are reported. New formulas for converting readings form an atomic absorption spectrometer into equivalent readings for an atomic emission spectrometer are derived. Efforts to provide technical consultation on the development of a new software package to computerize some of the daily routine operations of oil laboratories are discussed.
