Edition Notes

Continued as: Trans. Linn. Soc. London. 2nd Series. Botany ; Trans. Linn. Soc. London. 2nd Series. Zoology

Founded in 1788, the Linnean Society takes its name from the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) and is the world's oldest extant biological society. Transactions of the Linnean Society was first published in 1791 and covered all aspects of natural history. This journal was an important publication for all the leading authors of the time and included early papers by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russell Wallace. The journal continued until 1875 when it was split into separate botany and zoology publications. Illustrations were included in the Transactions of the Linnean Society from the very beginning, and most volumes contain some fine colour plates. 15th March - end of June 2005.
