First published in three volumes in Lucca in 1554, the fourth volume appeared in Lyon in 1573 under the title: La quarta parte de Le nouelle del Bandello nuouamente composte: ne per l'adietro date in Luce. Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in early olive-green morocco panelled in triple-ruled gilt. The armorial super-ex-libris of John Ker, 3rd Duke of Roxburghe, is present on all covers and the armorial bookplate of the Barton Library on all front pastedowns. The front flyleaves of vol. 4 contain a multi-page early inscription summarizing the contents and publication history of the collection.
