Oliver Johnson requests that William Lloyd Garrison "read this hurried note to Phillips", as he is anxious to finalize the schedule of their respective lectures. Johnson mentions that he was recently in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where the cornerstone for the new meeting house for the Pennsylvania Yearly Meeting of Progressive Friends was laid. Johnson states that "aspects of this new religious movement are very encouraging." Johnson closes by announcing that either he or Sydney Howard Gay will be able to attend the "Syracuse meeting".
