Edition Notes

Holograph, signed.

Henry Joseph Wilson apologizes for the delay in acknowledging William Lloyd Garrison's "kind welcome sent" to him and Mr. Gladstone in New York last month. He discusses the "evil system" of licensed prostitution. Henry Joseph Wilson writes: "On the other object we have in view, we are delighted to have your expression that we ought to have the moral support & sympathy of America to encourage us in Europe in our war against legalizing the vice of men & the 'White slavery' of women." He will give Garrison notes of introduction from Rev. S. A. Steinthal.
