Edition Notes

Holograph, signed "Your loving Father."

William Lloyd Garrison tells of searching for "a likeness" of Dr. Samuel Thomson, founder of the Thomsonian practice (i.e. hydrotherapy, utilizing vapor baths and herbs as a cure). He found a frontispiece of Thomson in a volume and sent it to Wendell Phillips Garrison. William Lloyd Garrison is declining an invitation to come to New York to attend a meeting at the home of Cyrus W. Field. William Lloyd Garrison is pleased by the reaction of the press to his reply to Senator James Gillespie Blaine on the Chinese question.

Merrill, Walter M. Letters of William Lloyd Garrison, v.6, no.215.
