Edition Notes

Colophon reads: Imprime a Paris pour Iaques Keruer libraire ... & fut acheve de imprimer le xxiij iour de Novembre Mil cinq cens.xliij.

Of the 197 woodcuts, seven are repeats and the last ten and their text were added by the translator, probably Jean Martin. The 5 x 5 cm. woodcuts have been attributed to Jean Cousin (probably the elder) and to Jean Goujon. Mortimer opines that at least two different artists were involved. Cuts on a6v and a8v are mounted over misprinted ill.
