Edition Notes
Virgules replaced by commas in title page transcription.
First printed in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, 1601.
In this translation, which is abridged from the Dutch, the translator announces that he gives only an extract in which will be found the principal events. De Bry probably made use of this translation in his Great Voyages, Part IX. Cf. Church.
This work in written in the form of a journal, and with the exactness of detail that would naturally be looked for in a navigator's log-book. Van Noort was the commander of a fleet of four vessels which set out from Holland in July, 1598, and found a route to the Indies by way of the Straits of Magellan. Passing through the Straits, he voyaged along the coasts of Chile and Peru as far as 13⁰ 40' north latitude, and then turned westward across the Pacific; returning to Rotterdam in August, 1601.

Signatures: A-P⁴ (A1, P4 versos blank)
Errors in paging: p. 110 and 114 misnumbered 011 and 116.
