James Gillespie Birney writes to Amos A. Phelps and Joshua Leavitt to introduce Samuel Lewis, the Superintendent of the Common School of Ohio, who plans to visit Boston. A lifetime advocate of general education, Lewis ́will contribute much to the interest of the Liberty Party meetings which he may attend.́ An additional note, unsigned but suspected to be by Lewis, says that the writer will be at the Marlborough Hotel on Tuesday and would be pleased to see Phelps there if he is in that neighborhood.
