In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan expresses his approval of the content of Phelpśs last letter concerning the secretaryship of the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society. He says he intends to call a meeting to discuss the matter further. He also expresses his concerns regarding the financial burden he (Tappan) is bearing for the antislavery cause and the Union Missionary Society. He then discusses a plan for establishing a new sub-paper.
