In this letter, Lewis Tappan informs Amos A. Phelps of his (Tappańs) trial at the church on the charge of slender. Stating that Joel Parker denies signing the Declaration of Sentiment attached to Phelpśs book, Tappan requests for the exact conversation between Phelps and Parker. In an enclosed letter addressed to Asa Mahan, Tappan discusses the publication of Mahańs article, and also asks for the truth about Parker's assertion that Mahan did not criticize him (Parker) for ́breaking the Lord́s day.́
